First time doing cross country and I have some questions?

I am doing my first cross country show on the 10th July. I have been riding for 8 years and do 3- 3 6 jumpers/equitation. Thought it would be good for both my horse and me to get out there just once and try something new. If I jump 3 6 at home would it be ok to do beginner novice?(2-2 7) Do you have any advice? I have never ridden cross country before and don't know what it's like. Is it any different from hunter/jumper? How was your first time doing cross country? My mare has never refused a fence with me so should be worried like going through water? Should I canter the whole thing or trot hills some jumps?

TEACHING STEP UP TO A PARROTLET?

I have had my Parrotlet for a little over 3 weeks. I got her from a pet store where many people touched her, picked her up ect..But i was wondering.. How do I get her to step up onto my finger? I have tried pushing my finger under her chest and encouraging her and also feeding her treats to step up but it never works. I have also tried using other objects too. She just never really steps up! She doesnt eat that many treats either. please help! THANKS :)

First fall off my horse question?

I had my second riding lesson on my horse yesterday. He is stiff on his left rein. I am novice because I had a huge confidence knock a while back whilst I had this horse on loan and I basically needed to be taught to ride again. This horse gave me so much confidence! Even though he is very cheeky. So, what we were doing is trotting down once side of the menage then catering up the other side. He used to be extremely overweight but now that he has lost most of it he is becoming very strong. He would be a bit cheeky and try to canter all the way around the school. I managed to make him trot on the left side though. When we changed the rein he trots around on the rein perfectly but is always on the wrong lead in canter. I managed to get him into the right lead and we had a great canter on that rein until it got to where we trot. He bolted around the menage and then he turned a really sharp corner and then just stopped and threw his shoulder to the side. I landed on my head and shoulder quiet hard. I really don't understand though? My shoulder doesn't hurt one tiny bit! My neck it a bit stiff today though. I have a HUGE bruise on my knee and my ankle hurts SO much I can't put any weight on it! I have hurt my ankle before but never so much I can't walk on it. But how did it happen? I landed on my head and shoulder, not my ankle? It's kinda weird. And what should I do about my ankle. If it help he is a 15hh cob so It wasn't a very big fall. This was only my second fall ever and my first fall off him. But I DID get back on and had a nice trot around, not very well though because my ankle hurt. I know it is a stupid question, but how did I hurt my ankle?

Ultimate Frisbee! It's fun and requires teamwork and communication skills. All you need are 7-15 people split into 2 teams, a Frisbee, and a simple soccer field to play on. Each team is on either side of the field. One team will throw the Frisbee as hard as they can to the other team, and the other team will try to get the Frisbee to the other side of the field. The person holding the Frisbee can only take two steps, and must throw it to another teammate. If it lands on the ground, the opposing team will take possession of the Frisbee. Other players can interfere with the pass as long as they don't slap it out of the player's hand. It is fun, gets the youth good exercise, and teaches good communication and teamwork skills! It's a game that my youth group played all the time when our lesson plans got shot down. :)

Need advice on puppy training....?

I recently got a pit bull puppy who I love and adore, but cannot seem to control. She's about 5 months old and is just a bundle full of energy, which is to be expected. I don't obtain all that energy, so I can only manage a mile long walk, every other day. My main issue with her is her inability to just chillllllllllllllllll. I'd love for her to be able to sit and relax with me. But if I give her freedom, she'll sniff every friggin inch of the floor for scraps or dust balls. If I leash her, she whines and fights me. Not in an aggressive manner, but it's still rather frustrating. Also, I bought her this awesome $20 pillow for her comfort in the crate. Nice and plush, real cushiony. 10 minutes, it was shredded to bits. I've bought her expensive, yummy, chewy toys. But she gets bored with them easily. I've read into some solutions. It all just emphasizes encouraging positive behavior, discouraging the negative. Ugh. Not enough. Any tips would be much appreciated.

The other day, I had a riding lesson, like I do every other week. For the past few weeks, my lessons have not been as good. A few lessons back, I was doing a lot of practice with my canter and learning to jump, as I am a novice rider. But for the past few lessons, I have not had one canter or jump and I am not sure what to do, because recently I have been hacking out on my friends horses, and slowly building up confidence, but now because I am not doing as much challenging work in my lessons, my confidence is decreasing. It's also very hard because I am riding a school pony (as I don't have my own :'( ) and as he gets ridden almost every day, doing the same thing, he just switches off and goes so slow, but my instructor doesn't correct my position, so I can't kick him properly, to get him going again. At the moment, I am trying to convince my parents to let me do a partial loan, (go down 2-3 times a week) which my friend said that she would come and help me with. Sorry it's a bit long, but I'm really not sure what to do. Try and find a new riding school? Convince my parents for the partial loan? Any advice would be appreciated, but please, no hate. Just wait until you turn 18 and go to college. I know it seems unbearable at times, but my friend got physically abused sometimes and she survived 3 years. If she can do it, you can do it. I've taken my little girl to to two different vets due to two different problems. Both have made absent-minded comments about her weight, saying she's a bit thin. She is easily able to use the standard crittertrail tubes. She can even fold in half and turn around in them (Don't worry. She hardly does this.) I think it's just because her cage is big, so she has a lot of climbing and waddling to do to get anywhere. And she loves her wheel. She runs about 3 or 4 hours straight. What does it feel like when baby engages?

I'm 39w 5d. I know my baby has dropped. Even though it's my third, it's a first for me, my other 2 didn't as far as I know. But my stomach is now a slope and sits low rather than high and round. I can eat full meals, breath much better, and have to go to the restroom constantly. This has been going on for a couple weeks now. However, the past couple of days, I'm having nonstop pressure/pain in my pelvis/groin, back. It's sharper than an ache but definitely not cramping or contractions. It hurts when I sit and even lay down, and it makes walking so uncomfortable. The pregnant waddle never made more sense to me than it does now! :) By the end of the day, I'm so stiff and sore, I'm near tears sliding into bed. Going to the bathroom is more interesting as well. (TMI) When I go pee, often it trickles a little at a time, or I literally feel her shift a little and I can go. I've been having the same problem with the other. When I have Braxton Hicks the pressure is ten fold and I feel like I need to go to the bathroom then as well. But there is absolutely no pain, just pressure. So I'm curious if it's possible she's engaged or if the -1,-2, stations feel this way as well? I know even if she is that labour is still far off for me, that's just how it goes, but I'm still curious. Oh and I do NOT have a urinary tract infection, just thought I'd mention that as well.

Son wants to join army, but had childhood psych hospitalization?

My 18 year old son wants to enlist in the army. He went through a very difficult time at the age of 11-12 and was hospitalized for 2 weeks for a psych eval. He was tried on several medications, and then put in a 45 day residential treatment facility. When he came home, he did better, and within 8 months was off the medications and back to his old self. He has been successful all the way through middle school and high school and has needed no further intervention. His recruiter encouraged him just not to mention it at all, but he wants to be honest. His current MD has written him a letter stating that he has not been on any medications in over three years and that he is fit to serve. We are concerned that the rules state that hospitalization or admission to a residential treatment program are a bar to enlistment. Any thoughts?

My oldest aunt is the one who always took my grandma to the dr appointments. since I am currently unemployed (by choice). I have decided to go along with them to dr appointments. I was once a translator for drs & patients for after hr services. my aunt thought it would be a good idea if i started to come to all the appt. i didnt mind i like helping my grandma & anyone who needs translating. by the time of my gmas surgery they needed someone who spoke english&knew my gmas med hitory. all my aunts & uncles & my grandpa dont speak english. and my grandma is 82 & illiterate. so i said i can go in with her. i was with her for about 3 hrs translating, signing papers and explaining things to my gma. was with her in preop room.saw her go in the operating room. surgeon called me on cell to let me know how everything went when surgery was over etc. ive been following up with the drs. i am practically the only person who knows dr names and her rx info. there were some complications in my gmas surgery & in order to save her life they had to put in a IVC filter. i explained to my gma and she said its fine sweety sign...i did. everything was a success! I noticed my uncle the youngest of my gmas children started acting distant & stopped talking to me. today he came to my house being quiet and ok... then out of nowhere... he starts telling my aunt and my mom that they should have someone responsible making decisions for their mother! my mom got mad since im her daughter & was like no one is making decisions for mom she is. he said no! one of you guys should be taking care of her.... not someone who is going to change their mind and not be responsible. i said your talking about me and i dont make decisions for my grandma i explain things to her she decides 4 herself... he was like no you make decisions for her. tell her what she needs and what she has to do. it got heated up he started calling names & pointing fingers.i honestly only tell my grandma what the doctors tell her to do... which is to walk & not be laying down all the time because she needs the exercise.i tell her to eat because she doesn't really eat. i tell her to wear her back brace. etc. my gma doesnt want to she says shes too weak still ITS BEEN OVER A MONTH... she refuses to do any exercises complains about pains & doesnt want to leave the house without her wheelchair. BUT she tells my uncles & doctors she feels no pain at all that shes fine now & exercises & lies pretty much. i tell her doctors what she tells me.dr said its common her old age scared of getting sent back to hospital but they have ordered transportation for her so she doesnt get up from wheel chair when going to dr appts & i dont drive so its easier for me to go w/her & not depend on anyone giving us a ride. he volunteered (my uncle)to help her & encourage her to walk by coming over every day. something he hasnt done i told him he can but that the physical therapist was going to start coming soon bcus thats something the surgeon ordered in home physical therapy. ANYWAY he offended me said i am not responsible too young (23) and that i change my mind a lot about things &that im really a nobody to be taking care of his mother or making decisions for her. and that one of my grandmas daughters should be doing all of what i am doing instead of me. because im not reliable & he doesnt trust me. he yelled said bad words. called my aunt & mom names. i told him that i only tell the drs what she says but he wouldnt listen he said he would perfer my grandma to be at my other cousins house. & we all know that cousin doesnt want my gma at her house but he doesnt understand that. my mom told him that if he doesnt like me doing everything i do why doesnt he take care of her. he said he cant and blah blah it all lasted 2 hours of yelling,, screaming. & my gma defended him said we shouldnt upset her son he gets mad quick that we attacked him. he said he was never coming over to any of our houses anymore... it was crazy! my question is if he comes over... how should i act? what should i tell him? he has done other ****** up things to me & talked **** about me & my dad and mom before. but this! i mean come on!!! should i never speak to him again? should i be ok & not take it personal he is her son..wouldn't anyone else be kind of thankful im doing all of this? even my gmas social worker said shes surprised no one else knows anything about my grandma & that she likes dealing with me. What are some camera suggestions for a novice photographer looking to upgrade from a point and shoot?

I've started to grow an affinity towards photography over the years and have exhausted all options from my point and shoot compact. While I have spent time with my friend's DSLRs and am becoming familiar with terms like 'aperture' and 'f-stops', I still consider myself quite a novice. I've done some research but am still hoping for a little more insight from more learned photographers out there. Should I upgrade to micro four thirds or just go straight into a DSLR? Jamo is a good speaker line, I have never heard the model you mentioned but some of their bookshelf models that I have auditioned sounded quite impressive. They are a European company that specializes in quality speakers for smaller rooms so you 607 is probably not going to play as loud as a similar size model from say Polk Audio or JBL but the sound you get will have a smooth balanced feel to it and they play plenty loud as you probably know yourself by auditioning them already... I would recommend getting the 607n without a sub at first, they should have sufficient bass for music and may be suitable for movie sound also if you listen at lower volumes in a mid to smaller size room...I would try it first before getting a sub any way...a nice sub to get in the future would be the BIC Formula F- 12 also if your looking for a home theater set you might want to look into the Jamo S5606HC 5. system or the Jamo S606 for a set of five speakers ...
